I'm wondering if anyone here has done the online course at sligo and what they thought of it? I have a level 7 degree, I'm thinking of applying for level 8 because I'm working.

i done one online in sligo it, i taught the course was great , being able to go over lectures as many times as you like is good too. depending what subject your doing you will probly have to go to sligo for labs, i done engineering and had five labs in the year , i flew down as i live in dublin ,and hate traffic,30mins flight ,sweet ! . less than €50 return bus outside airport into town €6 or taxi €15 labs start at 10am flight gets in 9am so it all worked out well.flight out at six,
i found the course a little bit expencive but wort it.

I take it you didn't do your course in English then?

OP,I've heard from some of the lecturers in the college that it has been a great success as it is still relatively new and they are adding more courses to choose from.

I want to do L8 Electronics.
Were the labs on weekdays steifanc? With the exams as well, I think the amount of time needed to go there will be more than I could take off work.
I probably could take the time off but I'd like actual time off to my self too.
That's really what I'm worried about. As well as the cost. €4900 a year seems a bit much to be spending in these kind of financial times.

    hi max ,
labs were on a friday. from 10 till 5 . there were five labs for the year , i think i went to two of them , i done all the reports and still got graded ,so it really down to you if you go or not, the reports are part of your final .
the labs ran for two fridays with the groups , so you got people changing between the weeks.
the exams were in centers , galway , cork , sligo , tallaght , not sure if there was more , i done mine in tallaght it. just show up with id, and sit the exam , all fine, i done christmas exams on saturdays and summer exams during the week, depends on the timetable,
yeah €4900 is a lot, look around lots doing electronics online, try itt blanchardstown, they were cheaper than sligo , i dont know what the school is like tho ,
so all in all bar the cost of the course sligo was good for me worked out well , they could do with more courses , im sure there working on it,
lectures were live accross the net, and recorded in case you missed them, 4 aweek , monday 6/8 and wens 6/8 , they set a guidline of about 20 odd hrs a week .
if ya need any more info let me know!
