Google shows my site as having just one link using the link:www.webwizards.ie method.
However, Google webmaster tools shows that there are 225 links to my site.
    Yahoo shows 386 links.

So, what is Google's definition of a link?

I think the "link:" query has been broken for a very long time now...

Just try searching for "webwizards.ie" and/or "www.webwizards.ie" instead (with the double quotes for exact phrase matching), it should be more relevant.

Google only shows a sample of your links when using link:www.site.com. Google Webmaster tools is a lot mor accurate.
