We all get this throughout our life. its usually old people (>40) or family who do it, and its something that is one of the most pointless exercises in life.

I usually get, "oooh you're the spitting image of your Dad".
    To which I usualy reply,
    "Thats cos he's me Da"

Its gets mental when you visit different sides of the family because I then get told, "oooh you look like your dead Auntie Josephine".

but now, in the twilight of my life, (Im 31) a strange thing has happened. My younger relations are often told they look like me.

It has me worried that Im too old to be attention worthy.

Do you look like any weird relatives or do you get told you do?

I always get told I am the spit of my Dad, my response has been for the last 15 years,
I am not bald and I do not have a mustache.

No :( Apparently I don't look like anyone, ever. Not once in my life have I been told I look like someone.

Not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

My dad was checking on in my sleep when I was sick recently.
And he was disturbed to find me sleeping the same perculiar way, as the black sheep of the family.
He was up the rest of the night worrying about it :D

That reminds me I bumped into one of my very many lookalikeys this week.
    We had a stare off.
    I think I won. :)

Someone once asked if I was adopted cos I don't look like D'Mother at all.

Someone else pointed out that I was the spitting image of my maiden [ie never been married] aunt (who is D'Mother's sister)

    I'm calling Shenanigans!!

I've been asked more than once if I'm so and so's sister (for both of my siblings) as I'm their spitting image. We also have a look-a-like cousin.

People sometimes say they recognise our family resemblances because of our eyes .Bit strange when 3 of us have blue ,2 brown and 1 has green eyes

Sounds like you've been sleeping with your sisters tbh.

My da has a beard, so nobody really knows who he looks like. My mam seems to think I look like my grandad though, even though I'd say there's very little resemblance

i'm told i look like my cousin, my dad and my uncle. Which is unfortunate given they're all ugly so-and-so's (so i'm told).

Guess its lucky I've a charming personality :D

Yeah I get told I'm the spit of my dad - my reply is what? I'm overweight with facial hair?

    I am!

    Only kidding!

Yeah I always get that, people tell me I look like my dad and my aunt.:)

I get told I look like everyone all the time, not just relatives.

"Wow you look so like my friend Tony, the one-armed badminton player from Tunisia"

    or

"Hey you look just like that suspected rapist on the news"

or even once while on a date with a girl:

"You look just like my father"

I'm told I look like my aunt on my dad's side, but looking at pictures of my mother when she's a teenager I'm the image of her. This scares me.

I always get told I look like my mum. So much so that I was approached out of the blue by a customer last year asking was I her daughter! This woman hadn't seen or talked to my mum in over 25 years. That was creepy.

At a funeral once and one of my cousins in his mid thirties says to me "Jaysus you're the spit of Gerard Byrne."

My response - "Eh Eddie, I am Gerard Byrne!"

Nonsense. You've been told you look like Jane Fonda, Rebecca Mader from Lost, Jean Butler from Riverdance, Cillian Murphy, Vera Farmiga from the Departed, Sarah Chalke, Gemma Hayes, Holly White (Becks from Dan & Becks), Jane Birkin, Marianne Faithfull, Michael Pitt and Kathryn Thomas on the Know Your Lookalikes thread alone.

Never told you look like someone. Tsk. :pac:

This is precisely why young men are advised to take a long hard look at the gf's mother if things are getting serious. It's like looking at the gf in 25 years.

My Mam as an identical twin sister that lives in roughly the same area, anytime we used to go to the Supermarket, random people would come up to her and start having a big friendly conversation. She would then have to explain that she wasn't my auntie, she was her twin!

I always get told I look a lot like my Mam and my sister. Apparently the three of us are one "side" of the family, while my other sister and my Dad are the other "side" of the family. I never get told I look like my Dad - I guess I don't particularly look like him.

I just bumped that thread to see if anyone has any ideas for me. All I got the first time I tried it was "David O'Doherty - but better looking"
I am both looking forward to and dreading the replies (if any)
