right ive failed my test twice already so im getting quite <SNIP> with the <SNIP> RSA. every time ive been out with each of the five instructors ive used i have been told i should have no problems passing the test however on the day some <SNIP> always conspires to <SNIP> it up for me( the second time i did it he failed me because i failed to go into the left lane as an 18 wheeler was turning left ahead of me).

done my test in tallaght the previous times (<SNIP>) so i thought id boook it for some where else this time. i figure if im not familiar with the place ill be more cautious so i booked naas... can anyone tell me about this route or test centre?

i know it seems like a bit of a stupid thing to do but it made sense when i was booking it.

You fail your test so it's the RSA's fault?

Now you book Naas so you won't know the route, then you post asking for the route. You are confused!

Prepare properly (driving, not the route) and you'll be fine. Good luck!

your missing my point man. i did prepare properly all the preious time i spent hundreds on instructors and renting out cars for the test and it got me no where. i asked for some help not a smart arse reply. if you have nothing useful to say then dont say anything. all i asked for was some general info not the exact test route.

and the second time i failed it was that guys fault he failed me because i didnt go up the inside of a truck while it was turning left. I got a grade 3 for that. i dont see how that is my fault?

Edit: sorry if this comes across as angry. but im just at my wits end with this test.

Naas is quite a short route because the traffic there can be a bit mental, but it's generally thru the town & out by the hospital. The centre itself is on the Newbridge Rd, and it can be difficult enough to get parking at times.

No I think there's only 1 R/A on the routes they use and it's a quiet mini R/A. Maybe your mate did it in Toughers which was the SGS centre.

havent got a date yet for it... would the sgs centre still be open down there then? or have the contacts expired yet?

No they've gone everywhere, it's just the RSA

So, if you have passed your test are you allowed to refer to the RSA in the most abrasive and offensive manner possible, because to be fair they are a shower of westminster bankers.

Haha! good point, anyone who has passed is just too relieved to bother complaining anymore, I have to say though that now that i think about it a lot of the people i dealt with in rsa where nice themselves it was just the restrictions the rsa put on the test and how its handled that i hated, there needs to be a review of rsa and a change in operation standards to improve the way things are handled, making the procedure easier for the people applying would really help towards the stress of the test.

I passed and I still think that they're prodigious ball-jugglers

I failed my test twice in Newbridge, getting just one grade 3 both times and then passed in Naas a few weeks later with a clear sheet!
I think it's a pretty easy route, he didn't take me up the main street or anything, just stuck to residential areas around the town and was only on the road for twenty minutes.
I'd say take a drive down there and become familiar with the place before the test, that should help. I had three driving lessons with a great instructor beforehand too, PM me if you're interested and I could send you his name and number. Definitely recommend a pre-test. I didn't have one with my first two tests and failed, had one with the third and passed with flying colours!

any good companies you would recommend to do the pre-test with?

i must admit seeing them mark the large sheet of paper beside you as your failing is very offputting. they shoould get the pda's that the sgs has(who in my experience are much better even though i failed with them the first time i did my test)

Nah, I found the pda's where worse,at least with the large sheet you can see the tester marking you down,I didnt have a clue the sgs tester weas marking me and it was annoying

i just have a short question and i dont wanna start a new thread aboot it...

during the reverse around a corner is it acceptable to adjust your side mirror downwards to give you a better view of the path? ive done it without adjusting it before and i've never got any marks on it... just wondering though would they mark you for it?

(oh and i find that huge notepad distracting)

I've heard it's not really in your best interest to do so. Your mirrors should already give you a good enough view of the kerb if they are positioned properly. I asked my driving instructor could I do this before I did my test and he advised against it. I'm not too sure if they'd mark you for it or not but I wouldn't do it anyway.
