    Hi All,

I am thinking of getting a template website but I have heard mixed messages about how well you can SEO such a website?

Can anyone shed some light on this?

    Thanks

Yes, a templated website is just a standard website but you've bought the templates/design.

Depending on the template you may need to modify it - headings, meta tags etc. for SEO but I don't see any reason this wouldn't be the same for any other website.

Thanks Colm C! Is a CMS website the same thing? Sorry for all the dopey questions just want to make sure I am doing the right thing signing up for a CMS/Template website.

Again - depends on the CMS! There should be some FAQs around this on the provider's website, if not ask them. Basic SEO things to look for would be:

    - correctly marked up headings/content
    - Custom meta tags
    - Custom title tags
    - SEO/human friendly urls
