    Hi

I am looking for an accountant to do my tax returns for 2008. I was a PAYE worker from Jan-March and for the remaining months I have been doing some contract work, for which i need to do my own tax returns.

The first contract job is providing farm maps using Autocad to an Irish company, working from home(renting), only costs are broadband, computer costs etc. The second source of income is from providing on-site IT support to retail outlets. The main costs for this are the running of my car and fuel costs etc.

So can anyone tell me how much an accountant would charge?
Or can anyone direct me to a good and reasonable accountant in the Cork/Kerry region.

    Thanks

    Hello there

Well it depends on what type of accountant you contract. If you go for a Big 4 accountant then it could be 2k, or if you go to a smaller firm then possibly 750-800 which is based on your simple requirements above. You could always get someone to do it as a nixer for you, but you are better off going through an accountant if you ever need reports and accounts filled out for a loan or mortgage.

Hi, you should ask people you know for recommendations. It seems like a very straight forward return so shouldn't cost too much. Don't be afraid to ring up and ask for quote as even accountants are hit by the recession and you can bargain with them. Will PM you few names that you can try if interested.
