Travel buddy - Going to Melbourne alone mid June

Hi- I am going to Melbourne alone mid June on a WHV - hoping to say in Melbourne for up to 6 months if I can get a job and then maybe travel up the east coast. As i am going alone, I was wondering if anyone else is going around the same time as it would be cool to meet up with people to have a buddy to help get settled in over there. I know ill meet loads of people once i get there but if anyone one is heading to Melbourne around mid june id like to hear from ya:) (I am a 25 year old girl)

Im arriving in Melbourne on June 3rd from Dublin, will be staying out in Base hostel in st kilda for a month, then after that i have nothing planned.

Hi,Im in the same boat as you I am heading to melbourne in the next few weeks. I was gonna stay in that base hostel aswell for a while. Im 26 and ill be looking for work in melbourne. I have no dates booked yet.

I plan to spend a few a months in Melbourne too, but may not arrive there until July or August.
You'll be able to show me around by then

Cool stuff....seems to be a good few people headin over around June/July....we will have to arrange some sort of a get together if people were up for it....

I'm also in Perth here myself. It's a lovely place here, and the craic is good. It does help that I have a few relatives here, and I haven't compared it with any other of the Australian cities yet.

I've been here for just over 5 weeks and I'm having bother finding work. I'm looking for IT work, and it's not plentiful here. Good news is that I've been shortlisted for a second interview for a job in Melbourne. If I get that, I'll be in Melbourne within the next week, so I may be able to show you around when you get there.

My second interview is on Monday so keep the fingers crossed for me!

@IrishEmporer - So where in Perth are you? How you finding it?

I'm due to arrive in Melbourne in 4 days time. I'm not too worried about meeting people as I have a good friend who is a local girl and who was my flatmate in London for a year before she went home. She offered to put me up for a few days and introduce me to her friends.

I should know my way around by the time all you guys arriving in June give so me a shout when you get there, a Boards beer seems like a good idea.

(actually a beer now sounds like a good Idea I'm of to the pub!)
