I'm looking for a laptop for my mum and I'm thinking something small and lightweight. It needs to look pretty but I'm sure that detail can be sorted later. I was thinking something along the lines of the sony vaio, but i'm not too fond of the p-series (too much like a clutch handbag). I've always used dells and so has she, so i'm not sure about macs...i've heard good things about them tho.
    any help would be amazing!

If weight is an issue you can look at the various smaller laptops, mind the keyboard can be a bit cramped.
If she only uses it for surf, mail and the like you don't need one with massive RAM and hard drive so you can get a cheaper one that way.

I would suggest you both go to a few stores and look at different laptops and decide what she likes best (as she is the one who will be using it), then either get it in the store or look around on the net. It quite good to see them in real life imo before buying.
My gf got a great mini laptop in Currys but it would be too small for me.
