I've heard all sorts of talk about which BB's are the best all round ammo, the best value for money and all points in between. But which BB's ARE the best and which BB's are the best value quality vs. cost?? I'm leaving it to you to post your findings for eveyone else to benifit from it!!

Take AIM did a great article on this topic, including weights, and size varience.
I found it most interesting and very insightful. After that i will only use G&G's.

Heres a little tip, Gold fire pellets dont work with the Galaxy MP5K, thats a mark against them anyway.

i use bioval bb's. they work. tried g+g bb's. they also work but are a fiver more expensive per bag. i only use biodigradable rounds. then i am usually playing in woodland or similar.

I've tried most brands of BB and the only brand I've never had any issues with are ICS. Excel are a close 2nd, the only problem is that they're troublesome in the KSC M11 mag.

Where do you get the G&G pellets

this is a very open question and i do not think there is any right or wrong answer, bb performance can come down to a lot of things even what type of aeg you have and barrel and hop up combination,

but 9/10 for people i meet they just want a value for money bb that does not jam, there not worryed about who makes it or what the composition and stuff like that

Can't go wrong with ksc or excel in my opinion

I forgot about KSC BBs :D, they are on par with ICS.

never had an issue with any bb brand except for vanaras.
again using a full auto AEG tremendous accuracy for me is not a massive issue and i'm quite willing to go with gold fire or Q pellet over excel or G&G because in full auto the difference in spread is pretty negligable.

Use G&G or Excels myself.

Both work fine in all my AEGs, the G&G ones have a tendency to get chopped in half by me Escort MP5 though, Excels are fine.

Keep forgeting that! Hows about getting BB's in bulk, anyone know any good places?

Also, who uses biodegradeable BB's and is there much point?

I pretty much go with Blaster And Q BB's, though I think the Qs are better

some sites only allow bio bbs that would be the point :) , but talking about bb there is a massive differance in types of bio bb, some are just named degradable and break down in the end over maybe 8 to 10 years, the true bio bbs in are climate will break down in a year or two, do not go for cheap bio bbs, there normal very powdery and where people fears of shards in eyes and breaking down in people aegs come from

I've used:

G&G

Excel

Goldfire

Blaster

(Some random bb's Paul at HRTA sold for a while)

and they all fired perfect, although some blaster bb's were in a right state, found one with a lump missing out of it:eek:

Those were AIM if i remember back to the good old days.

Excell .25s or

Bioval BBB Max .27, pricey enough but worth it, especialy if youre a sniper, theyre transparent so you can verify that there is no imperfections.

I've used
Excel,
G&G,
KSC,
ICS,
Blaster,
Q-Bullet,
Gold-Fire, etc etc.

G&G, KSC and ICS are defo the most consistent and have never done me wrong. ICS and also do high quality .12's too.
Blaster, Q-Bullet and Goldfire are all lower end stuff and its not uncommon to see oddly shaped and lumpy BBs in them which are a risk of ruining your gun.

If you get a jam using these its very important not to continue trying to fire the gun to clear it. I have repaired a load of guns that had them jammed in the barrel and each time you fire another gets stuck in behind the dodgey one until your barrel fills up and since the air has nowhere to escape the piston cant return forward as fast as it should. then the gear comes around again and picks up the piston in the position its not supposed to be in and chews it. so bottom line is, if it jams, stop firing straight away. :)

Theres a new BB called devils or something thats coming out and its supposed to have a large range of weights. have no idea of the quality yet though. :)

I have used
G&G:D:D:D
ICS:D:D
EXCEL:D:D
SYSTEMA:D:D
GOLDFIRE
BLASTER:D
Q-BULLET
BIOVAL

And a couple of others that I can't remember.
The G&G,ICS,Excel and Systema are in my opinion the topend ones.
I prefer the G&G Bio's.
Blaster are great for plenty of full auto.

BIOVALS:mad::mad: Are the worst BB's I have ever used.
They keep splitting in my PTW, not to mention in the process they ripped apart my hopup!! Never again:(:(

I've mainly used excel(.23, .25, .28), KSC (.3), G&G (.25) and blaster (.2). All with the exception of the blasters were fantastic performance especially the Excel .28s an absolutely fantastic bb for a stock vsr.

Recently I got my hands on some madbull .25s getting some absolutely fantastic range with little to no wind resistance thanks from what Ive heard a thin layer of teflon on the bbs. Just note this wont suit aegs because this teflon does mess with your hop after a few hundred shots and if you dont clean it regularly it'll be screwed!

KSC's are the best Airsoft BB's available, that's not an opinion, that's fact.

Maurzen 0.29g SGM's are the best BB's available for sniping (Can be used for anything obviously, but are the most consistent and accurate BB ever produced)

Ah the super grand masters...forgot about those! Quality bb

I use them, because for outdoor gaming, once I had thought about it, it seems a little irresponsible to coat a field or wood in bite-size plastic pellets which will likely outlive any of us. It can't be good. With the bio-degradable ones, although most of them don't exactly turn into fertiliser, they will break down into harmless components.

I get mine from Eirsoft - G&G or Bioval, both are very high quality and come in different weights - or there are a few sites that specialise in them. I got a variety of them from Begadi last year (such as black Super King .25gs, for my favoured 'salt 'n' pepper' mix), some of which were good and some less so (for example, 1st Target 'rough' bbs, which travel a bit further and straighter, but you can't use them in mags of any great capacity because they snag too easily). The cost of getting bbs overseas is relatively high too, because they're heavy.

There is also ironfoot.co.uk (http://www.ironfoot.co.uk/shop/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=33) which I haven't tried. But all in all, once again our Irish retailers are pretty competitive. I believe that SEAirsoft are a Begadi affiliate.

Excell .25s or

Bioval BBB Max .27, pricey enough but worth it, especialy if youre a sniper, theyre transparent so you can verify that there is no imperfections.

Did you try them? I was very curious about the Bioval BBB Max .27g bbs myself, but... There is some controversy out there about them. It's largely from misinformation and hearsay (because they look like glass, and are 'harder') but even so, I can imagine it being a hard-sell to be allowed to use them on-site.

k

i have used Q-Bullets (not very impressed), Blasters (found them to be good enough) but have lately started using Raptors and find them excellent

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,140 ✭✭✭✭TheDoc

Excel.23 are my main. Also use the Excel .2 and Blaster .2 when I'm really stuck. Never gave me any problems.

Used the G&G for a while without any issue, just I moved to .23

Golfire .2's went into my JG G36c and I swore never again, caused me a world of hurt.

The new devil BB's look great, cool packaging and colours are attractive, but I remember Glen telling me they were awfully poo, though he might have been referring to the heavier weights which have no use here at 1j.
