bit hard to describe but the outside strip of plastic on the CD/DVD tray has fallen off the laptop. its the strip that is flush with side of laptop when the CD tray is closed. the button to open the tray is still in tact however

cousin rang me last night when it happened to her laptop and i thought was very strange. she didnt drop it or anything just took it out of the laptop case and it fell off.

anyways anyone ever see this happen before and is it easily fixed? could ya do DIY with some superglue??
i think she is out of warranty but she's ringing DELL today to find out

Yeah I've seen that happen before. The laptop probably just took a bit of a bang in the bag. It's no biggie. If the clips are still intact you can just clip it back on but if they're snapped a wee bit of superglue will sort it out.

That part is called the CD/DVD bezel and is usually proprietary with each manufacturer unlike the drive itself. I have used Ardalite 2 pack epoxy to hold mine in place. :)
