Had a return to Pixmania collected by UPS yesterday afternoon.

Got this message when I tracked it:
Your package has experienced an exception.

Should I be worried, and give UPS a call to find out the full story? It was only picked up yesterday for fecks sake.

    Anyone ever get this before?

    Hey,

I got this status recently when tracking a package from Apple via UPS. I rang them to find out what the story was and they explained that it most likely meant that the van had broken down or for some other reason couldnt complete all the deliveries that were scheduled for that day.

The package was delivered as normal the next day so hopefully nothing to worry about, if you keep checking you'll probably see the tracking status return to a distribution centre and then be dispatched again!

    Hope that helps,

    R.

An exception simply means it got delayed somewhere - can be casued by bad weather, customs, traffic etc. Basically its telling you that the delivery time may be changed.

Usually a few hours later the information is updated and new deleivry time is displayed. - If its a 3 day shipment you'll probably find they made up the time, whereas if its a next day before noon shipment, it may be delayed til afternoon or next morning.

Hopefully Pixmania ring me on Monday when they recieve it now.

    Cheers for the info lads.

I have a lot of very pricey stuff coming to me, I got this message this morning: "this shipment is being held by brokerage for reasons beyond UPS control"....the only problem is that the packages, all 3 of them, arrived into Dublin Airport and were detained as of 7:45am for no listed reason.

What can I expect to unfold over the coming days?

    Many thanks.

It's probably under customs' control. You can expect a bill for duty and VAT, either before or after the delivery. If the items are illegal, or controlled in any way (by license or law), then you may be in trouble.

Your packages will be in the UPS depot, but held in the customs area until they are cleared. Should be sorted and out for delivery tomorrow. Most things are out of the customs cage within a day
