A friend of mine created a video for me with QuickTime Pro on his Mac, it's a .mov file.

I was unable to play the file back on my MBP, the video would open with QT and the sound will play fine but no pictures.

My friend suggested that it might have something to do with the fact that he created the movie file using QT Pro which I don't have.......so I spent 30 euro to upgrade to Pro and........the video is exactly the same, sound but no picture

Any ideas what the problem is and how to fix it?

    Cheers.

Maybe you're missing the right video codec. Download VLC and try playing it with that:

Or ask your buddy what codec he used.

If he created it on a Mac with Final Cut Pro, there will be a lot of Codecs on there that you won't have on a standard Mac.

You might be lucky and it might be one you can download.

Otherwise, ask him to remake the file using a standard codec.

Try to import it into iMovie if you have it
