A friend of mine recently started to use Dermalogica and raved about it. Am looking for something to really pep up my skin and was thinking of using their products, maybe have a few facials. Anyone out there have any experience with it, good, bad etc? Its expensive, so would like to be sure before jumping in.Thanks.

I use dermalogica products and really like them. I introduced a friend to them who was sceptical about them, but she has since been converted!

The best place to start is with a prescriptive facial which includes a face mapping. The problem with this is that they can be a bit expensive - maybe €70 - but the beautician will have a good look at your skin and decide which products are right for you. Alot of salons are offering reductions on their facials at the minute, so shop around!

Once recommended as part of a face mapping, the dermalogica products are guaranteed, so your skin shouldn't react to them. I decided to give precleanse a go even though it wasn't on my face-mapping (I had read great things about it!) and it was a disaster! My skin broke out really badly. So be careful! :)

Hopefully, the beautician will give you a few samples of whatever she recommends (along with a copy of your face mapping) so you can try out the products. If she doesn't automatically give you some, then ask! You should get some samples of whatever moisturiser she recommends and probably the cleanser too.

Once, you're satisfied that you like them and they agree with your skin, then you can start looking around on the internet to get the products more cheaply. I've been getting mine recently from care4yourskin.com, which is good value if the exchange rate is in your favour. strawberrynet used to be great value, but I think it's getting more expensive. I started off just buying moisturiser (active moist) and cleanser (dermal clay cleanser). After a while (when I had a bit more cash!) I started using exfoliant (daily microfoliant).

So to sum up my dermalogica rant :) I think the products are great, but getting a facial and trying out some samples is a good place to start!

I use Dermalogica cleansers and they are the best I have ever used.

I use their 'Precleanse' to remove my makeup. You put a few drops of the 'oil' in the palm of your hand, spread over hands and massage onto you face. As you then massage/rinse with water the 'oil' turns into a cleansing lotion and you have super clean skin really easily. I then use their 'Ultra Calming Cleanser' the best ever cleanser, gel type formula and so refreshing to use, rinse with water, does the job beautifully. I buy the 500ml pump dispenser from Beauticians in Blanchardstown Centre (one near post office) great value.

I got my face mapping done at a beauticians and bought some products there. Since then I have been buying them online and find it much cheaper. There is a good website called www.lookinggoodguy.com that does Dermalogica products at a much cheaper price than salons. They post pretty quickly too.

(And even though the name of the website seems to be aimed towards men there are products for women on there too!)

I have to admit Im not a fan I find they just don't do anything for my skin it never looks fresh and bright like I get with the elemis cleaners I use or even if I use cheaper facial scrubs or washes. I think they are over rated. I use Clinque day youth surge spf 15 and repairware night cream and they are far better than dermalogica IMO. Im late twenties and have started to see fine lines and I think the repairware is great I've noticed a difference since using it.

These products are so good that my skin has improved in a matter of weeks. I had liver disease last year and my skin was left dull, grey and lifeless. I used to spend a lot on full coverage make up, now I don't bother. I'm happy enough to wear eye make up, a bit of lippy and I'm ready.

I used Dermatologica dermal clay cleanser and active moist moisturiser for at least a year and a half. They were brilliant at first, my skin was quite bad but they toned everything down straightaway. Found that after a year or so they were less effective so I changed to different products, but suppose thats the same for anything you'd use.

It really depends on your skin type. Always best to try some samples first before spending your money.
