Hey there Ive being looking at a pug 205 gti in red very nice but the paint on the roof has turned orange and there is a crack in the paint, the seller said it would have to be resprayed.

Is there any other way to fix the discolouration without respraying the whole car.

Rubbing compound + several hours of elbow grease then a good waxing.

go into halfrauds and look in the paint section. You'll see a shelf with all products in yellow containers. Its their own brand one. Bought some last night and its 5.99 for a decent sized tube

Yeh, a crack in the paint would be more serious than just normal oxidation. If a respray is out for you at present and you just wish to bring back the original bright red colour, using a compound on its own wouldn't be enough. If you didn't wax straight away after removing the dull paint, and apply fairly regularly from there onwards, the fading would go back to orange within a few months. If I was you, I'd forget anything you get in Halfords and buy a bottle of Gollit instead. It is a polish and sealant in one. This will bring back the colour, then protect the finish further with something like Collinite wax.

That is if the car is really sound mechanically or very keenly priced. You might want to hold out for a better example. Bodywork repairs can be expensive to do properly if it is more than just light cosmetics.
