    Evenin all

Anyone got the new Freesat Panasonic Plasma tv? Does it work for the Irish DTT in MPHEG 4?

Can't find any info on their website, know that the previous model works alright but anyone have info on the new model?

I'm curious too. I mailed Panasonic. Their official line is still the same. The Irish market will be getting the G10 without the Freesat tuner, just an MPEG 4 tuner. The UK model will be getting the Freesat tuner, but won't have an MPEG 4 tuner.
However, that was their line the last time and it worked, so we'll need someone to buy the UK spec TV and try it for us! :D

This doesnt make any sense. Freesat HD DVB-S2 requires MPEG4 for some channels so they would have to go out of their way to disable the use of the MPEG4 chip with the inbuilt DVB-T tuner.

Panasonic in the UK are on record as saying that the PZ81 series could not receive DVB-T MPEG-4, yet they can.

I know, but that's their official line.
I can't actually find info on whether the G10 UK version has both a DVB-T tuner and DVB-S tuner. It just says it has the satellite one, no mention of terrestrial.

one would presume it would have to have freeview/uhf tuner, silly if they didn't.
The z81 was a great tv as anyone on border could get both mpeg2 and 4 hence dtt and freeview and freesat

No its all down to the models and more imporantly the lettering. The B or no letter is the British model. If it says HD Freesat then you can presume that the DVB-T tuner will go through the same processor (the mpeg4 chip). The E model is Dvb-T tuner only - no freesat.

This model confuses me though (it is meant to be the replacement for the PZ81 series (which incidentally are £200 cheaper).

It does have a Dvb-t tuner alright. But its not clear at all what chipset is in the TV. Panasonic UK technical support is poor. The PZ81 range is an example whereby it clearly uses the mpeg4 chipset to process dvb-t and freesat although panasonic will tell you otherwise.

The smaller LCD version of this the Panasonic TX-L32G10 replaces the LZD81 series.

For example the Panasonic Plasma TV TXP42S10B does MPEG4 but has no Freesat (for £790 - thats dearish)

I'd stick with the tried and tested Pz81 until someone actually tests one. I have no doubt though they will work given that they decode Freesat HD broadcasts.

By the way there are issues at present with the mpeg4 streams for DTT and panasonic combo tvs in the pz81 series.

The Driver - have you found a solution ? I notice that you say it is working fine for you at present.

Didn't realise there was a problem.

I bought a Panasonic LZD81 at Christmas and have been receiving Irish DTT from Three Rock on channel 54 perfectly since then. There have been several messages asking to do a rescan, most of which have had no effect until the one from last week.

When I do the rescan it only picks up the 4 radio channels on channel 52! I have no idea where the TV things that channel 52 comes from, but maybe it is something to do with changes in the TS.

I have been onto a friend in RTENL and they have modified some settings so try and make my TV work ok. They apparently have fixed it for Panasonic set top boxes, not iDTVs. They have changed some more settings today so I will try the "shipping condition" rescan again tonight.

In response to Down Exile's post I did a rescan on ch53 (I'm on Clermont Carn) but still doesn't pickup the TV stns. I wait with anticipation on your shipping condition reset/rescan before I risk it!

You could ask the guys in RS in Belfast, they might know.

Also RS in Belfast deliver to Ireland for £20 for boards.ie members, might save you a trip.

I was thinking about buying one of these freesat tvs,but now iam a bit unsure as they are no longer seem to be receiving dtt. Iam just curious but would putting a neotion cam in the back make any difference,i know its an added expence but has it been tryed.

No because it's not even saving the TV channels as far as I'm aware.

Freesat = Satellite, needs dish, can't do DTT
    Freeview = UK DTT only.

Karsini i guess i will keep my eyes and ears open to see what happens maybe things will be sorted before i hoped to buy late next month, and watty thanks but i know i will need a dish for the uk freesat.I have just bought the OAS flat dish especially for the job and because the particular part of Raheny where i live has a community piped tv system iam showing about 85% signal on the dtt trial on another tv,so i dont need to put up an areial,i can just stick the piped into the back of the tv.The Panasonic iam waiting to put on the kitchen wall wont be released until next month, its the TX-L32v10b just a little bit different to the TX-L32g10b released this month, mainly internet connection from what i read so far.I know its about 170 quid more but like with so many things i buy later to feel i should have spent that little more for something slightly more future-proof.

If it's the OAS flat sat dish, Ireland is too far west except for Astra 2D. It's quite low gain.

Here is one used as a terrestiral receiver for 10.6GHz:
    http://irishwattystuff.com/images/aerials/bigMetro-1sm.png

It gives me about 26dB gain compared with 18dB for original PCB aerial. For satellite use it's alleged to be about 30dB, a similar performance to a Camping Dish.

Thanks watty thats the dish all right i have not set it up yet only got it last week. Are you saying it wont work for the freesat in Dublin? as i only wanted something small and not to obvious at the side of the house and the shop insisted this flat dish at 45cm will give the same signal strenght as a 70cm dish.No point in settin this up if its not going to work.Have you or anybody any experience of this dish please??

Its not even adding them to the list at present because of data being transmitted by RTE NL to ignore the signal, for that partcular modelf (which is a casulaty of a bigger move) that does incidentally decode mpeg4 transmissions using the same chip used for to process the HD sat transmissions.

As they are engineering tests, anthing can happen. Do not buy a neootion cam.... the same issue will arise. In effect this latest tweak has disabled some if not all of the neotion cams (watch this board over the coming weeks as people rescan on idtvs)

It gives the same signal as a 40cm to 43cm dish. Thus a slightly less signal than a Zone1 Mini Dish as used in London. I have tested it for satellite.

Don't bother installing if you want UK sat when it rains. In light drizzle the picture quality will be poorer with more artefacts.

The shop is misled. It has a secondary reflector on the back of the cover that blocks some signal and spills some. It can't perform as well as a good 45cm regular dish.

    *******************

If a TV can't scan, store channel and receive the sound, then no Neotion adaptor of any kind will work. The pocket Duo model can't even play back from ethernet unless a valid signal is locked with at least sound working.
