Reccomend me a good 9 speed chain for use on both Road & MTB

Well, I'm basically looking for your advice and opinions on the best 9 speed chain out there for the money. I have tried a SRAM PC971 and a Shimano HG50 but haven't been 100% happy with either of them in relation to their lifespan! Do the more expensive chains last longer, or shift better or is it just weight savings? I am not bothered with the weight here, just a good value for money chain that performs well. I will be buying a good few of them to stock up as I run 9 speed on both the Road and Mountain bikes.

Thanks in advance for your help. I genuinely really appreciate it! Cheers :D

KMC chains (both 10 speed and single speed for me) have served me well.

I don't think pricier chains are marketed as longer lasting, just a tiny bit lighter and possibly a bit less friction. Better to get more affordable ones and replace them more often I think.

The cleaner you keep your chain the longer it will last.

As Tom says key is regular replacement. I have used Shimano and SRAM and see little difference. Also have KMC, on the fixie and hack bike, one very new chain did break but it was _very_ cheap (a fiver) and could just have been a fluke. Patched it back together and it has been fine since. Right now with the Shimano price increases the SRAM PC-951 looks like the best deal, buy a pack of three. The removable link is a big advantage with SRAM in 9 speed as well.
