you'd imagine it would. drove a Caravelle with this engine and it was quick enough.

Hyundai H1 is pretty animal though. 170bhp on the standard base model for 17k plus VAT. compare that with 25k plus VAT for a Transporter........

Funny you should post that, there's an article in last months Mercedes Enthusiast about the Mercedes Vito Sport. Apparently it has a 6cyl 201bhp diesel, does 122mph and 0-60 in 8.3 seconds!

Met a guy who has a Merc Vito 120CDI, 200bhp odd, tiptronic box, all the extras. would cost the same as a good spec Pajero/Land Cruiser.

Ford have a sporty Transit too.

With dynamic 18" alloy wheels, low profile 235/45 tyres, wide bonnet stripes, twin exhaust pipes and muscular styling enhancements, the limited edition Transit Sport Van would not look out of place on a racetrack. Inside experience Kado trim as standard, with leather trim as an option at extra cost, air conditioning, 6-disc CD changer, cruise control and power windows. Bluetooth® and passenger airbag is also now standard on SportVan.

Powered by an advanced 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi engine with ABS and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) as standard, the Transit Sport Van has all the attributes you've come to expect from the award winning Transit range.

    Think they're 140bhp.

To be fair, things like Hiluxs and Land Cruisers and Navaras and stuff are all around 170bhp but they're not racing material!

Sold one of those Transporters last year but it had a Tiptronic gearbox. Special order from the factory. Some yoke to go
