Hi all , just two shots of Charlie 253 over Galway today at exactly 17:00.

She was involved in the Search for two Fishermen off Cleggan with Rescue 115 and Rescue 118 but unfortunately both men were recovered dead.

All GASU aircraft are operated and maintained by the Air Corps and are based in Baldonnell. The squirrel was decommissioned from service roughly 2 to 3 years ago and is kept in a hanger in Bal the last time I saw it.

    The 2 GASU EC-135T2's ( 256/272 ) are at Baldonnel along with the BN2T4S Defender 4000 ( 254 ) and AS355N Squirrel ( 255 ).

Squirrel 255 of the GASU is up for sale at the moment and is hangered in Baldonnel and not in use since 272 appeared.

Yup, but the onboard equipment for surveillence etc is actually operated by a member of the gardai, not one of the air corps ;)

    Buy And Sell ha ha:pac:

    On the eTenders website:

    http://www.etenders.gov.ie/search/show/search_view.aspx?ID=APR116197

Title: Appointment of an Agent to conduct sale of AS355N Helicopter
    Published by: An Garda Síochána
    Publication Date: 01/04/2009
    Application Deadline:
    Notice Deadline Date: 23/04/2009
    Notice Deadline Time: 15:00
    Notice Type: Invitation to Tender
    Has Documents: Yes
Abstract: An Garda Síochána invites tenders for the appointment of an Agent to handle and conduct the sale of a Eurocopter AS355N helicopter that was in service with the Garda Air Support Unit and which now has been decommissioned.

And Trackerman is Correct that the Aircraft are flown by The Air Corps but the Gardai Operate the equipment.
