    Hi guys,

Does anyone know if Gilroy Gannon (or indeed any other accountants in Sligo) are taking on trainees this year? Myself and a few of my friends applied, we were pretty disappointed not to get interviews.

    Thanks!

I applied months and months ago also and just got the usual standard letter saying i'd be kept on file. They hav'nt explicitly advertised this year in any of the IT's (AFAIK), but I suspect they will take on a few... trainees are cheap labour afterall. Try FGS in Longford, and RBK in Roscommon/Athlone if your trying to get work in the West in a larger firm. Also theres a good few smaller firms who've traditionally taken on trainees in places like Longford, Sligo (Mulhern Leonard is one), Athlone, Castlebar. However the salary surveys indicate these pay extremely poorly.

Yeah? Some of my friends got rejection letters, but I didn't get anything and I'd pretty much given up on it. Still haven't heard from them. When did you get the call?

It would have been nice if they'd let me know one way or the other! Oh well. Best of luck with the interview!

does anyone know what the going rate is for trainee accountants at the minute with no experience but only FAEs left to sit.
