Cost of a crown?

    Hey, I've been advised by my dentist that I should have a crown fitted on one of my lower molars. The price quoted is €900. Is this excessively expensive, does anyone know?

    I had one done last year. €700. Don' t know the name of tooth but wasn t a front "cosmetic" one?

    OP I had one on a molar and it was 900 also.

    Those prices all seem about right. The fee generally depends on the state of your tooth (ie how badly decayed or broken down it is) and the materials used, as well as the skill of the operator and the degree of aesthetics required. In my office the range of fees for crowns is 800-1050. I think some offices charge as low as 600 but they may be using third world labs. There was a big issue in the US recently about some offshore labs using lead in crown manufacture.
    for peace of mind ask your dentist about material used.
