One word of advise on that laptop. The screens breaks very easy. I've replaced loads of screens on that particular laptop. Most of my customers don't remember hitting or dropping it off anything. Sony quote €800 to replace the screen on it when the laptop is for sale for €600. A friend who lives alone is totally mystified how it broke.

If you go up 100 more- you could get- http://www.laptopsdirect.ie/asp/versions.asp?rewrite=M51SE-AS112C_M51SE-AS112C&pagetype=version&page=

I'm not a fan of Sony Laptops- there are numerous problems with the screen- but you have to admire the keyboard- its of a far higher quality than on any other laptop (including Macs). The Asus has a Samsung screen (bizzarely), build quality is second to none- but you might like to supplement it with an external keyboard.

We have a stack of Sonys sitting here in work with broken screens too......

I see more of that model than any other make or model. Got another one in today. The person broke it by opening it close to the hinge. It must be a bad design. I'll let others recommend an alternative.

The keyboard on the Toshiba is unacceptable- and once again you're looking at integrated graphics, which while perfectly acceptable for everyday tasks, will be found sorely lacking if you try to play even some dated games.

How about one of the Acer Bluestones?
