    Afternoon all :)
Simple thread, like innumerable ones before it. We have two cars:
    • a Scoob Impreza, 2.0 R Sports, 2006 model ('Hawkeye'), 33kmiles, 1st owner after dealer (bought at 8kmiles)
    • a MX-5, 1.8i Berkeley Ltd ed, 1998 model (amongst last 400 UK cars with pop-up headlights before facelift), 50kmiles, 2nd owner (bought at 14kmiles)
...and I'm wanting a change of both, but I'm very undecided as to what to change them for, swinging merrily between keeping the MX and upgrading the Scoob to a WRX estate (still '06, I just can't do the 'new shape'), or getting rid of both... but still wanting a convert and a more practical 'everyday' proposition (preferably both in turbo diesel).

So, big boring car + small 'funner' convert, or big convert (think A4-sized) and small boring car...

E.g., ATM, thinking of an A4 convert (1.8T or 1.9TDI) + an A2 TDi, but that might run a tad over-budget. Figure about £6k or so, on top of both cars sold private, the scoob about £7k and the MX about £3.5-4k, giving max of 17k to spend (in UK).

Decisions, decision... help me make my mind up, please!

An Accord  God no, I'm not that desperate :D My best mate has a "Caterham kit-car" (with some Vauxhall/Opel 1.8 or somesuch in it) and I've had a ride and a drive recently. I think I'll pass, can't see myself commuting in that day-in day-out (what I currently do with the MX, btw).

I've actually considered that, funnily enough. But am scared of reliability issues (I'm not lent to follow the usual joke about the L-O-T-U-S acronym, but still...).

EDIT - The fact is, it's really odd, because both my Mrs and me like driver's cars, and have for along time. But having driven both my Mum's C3 convert (the odd-looking, egg-shaped one with a modular roof, in 1.4 HDi) and my Dad's new C5 (again HDi, the big V6 one with all the gadgets) for a while earlier this month, I'm coming to realise that I'm after more comfort these days, and that I'm easing off the go-pedal much more often than I used to. 'Getting old I suppose :o
