Dublin to Berlin Road Trip

So I'm thinking about organizing a sponsored trip from Dublin to Berlin. It's going to be organizing around 2 weeks late in this year.

I'm doing this purely from a fun aspect. I want to test the waters and see can I organize enough hype around the internet to meet up with different people from around the world in towns through out the 4 different countries we will be travelling through.

A website is currently forming to disclose the full extent of the trip and to generate user feedback. Oh and of course to generate some hype :)

Since there is a wealth of knowledge on boards.ie from it's users, I was hoping to ask has anyone done this before ? What are your thoughts on it and are you willing to help generate as much help to get this project going ?

Sorry to put a downer on this but I don't see why someone would sponser you to drive to Berlin and back. Its not exactly the other end of the world.

Many , many , many people have driven this route. You're not the first and I can't see the attraction to be honest for a sponser.

It's not the distance of the route that we want to promote. It's the interaction of the internet and social community to come out and say hello along the travel.

Dublin to Berlin is in no means a massive journey of course, but hopefully it's long enough to visit quiet a lot of people on the way !

are you just looking for sponsers or are you looking to get a calvery going..? The whole of boards motors off to berlin! At first thought I think it would be class..

just wondering, how far away is the trip your planning? like would the added milage take a massive chunk of value off your car?

Sure, getting the entire boards.ie motors section driving to Berlin would be top class! I couldn't guarantee getting the sponsors to support something that high in volume but it would be great to see it happening.

It's 1000 miles, 2000 there and back. So no.

Planning the trip between Oct/Nov to allow time for sponsors to get involved.

I'd probably go. Open out the auld 140BHP Passat on the auto bahn. I'd even get her ECU remapped if I was to go. :)

Hoping to do something similar myself over the summer, although not Berlin. Great idea!
