Alternative Irish Marathons

Was looking to run a marathon maybe this Autumn, somehow running around Dublin for 4 plus hours with 30,000 people isn't too appealing. The Dingle marathon and the Mooathon in Donegal (both in September) look interesting by way of scenery but seem to be hilly. Anyone ever ran these 2 races or recommend some other similar marathons in Sept-Nov?
    Cheers

I think the figure in Dublin might be nearer 13,000 than 30,000.
As far as I know, it is the first year of the Dingle Marathon. Not too sure about the Mooathon.

Have a look at this thread. It lists Irish half and full marathons.
As it may not be 100% up to date, may be have a look at www.runireland.com as well.

we dont have anything ! whats the prob with what'll prob be 13-15,000. i would have thought that would make it more interesting than lonely roads with less support ? dont know of other maras around then tho.

I'm with the OP - much sooner prefer a little spin on quiet roads with great scenery than being elbowed all the way with people shouting at you :)

The Dingle race looks good, but the Full looks even more challenging than usual. The Half out to Dunquin would be a fantastic run if the roads are clear, but €60  Mooathon is certainly worth looking at.
