I was just wondering if anyone might know why I cant access the BBC interactive service on my new Chorus/NTL Digital set top box?? Surely I must be able to access this facility?

The main reason would be that UPC don't offer interactive in this country yet.

It is due to come on, this week from what I was told, but I doubt very much this will be the case.

You have got to be joking me. what a load of sh*te. I got in NTL last week just in time for the world snooker championships on interactive, presuming of course that I could get it. Even Freesat can get interactive!

I have had NTL for about 7 years. I am 100% serious. I was told ~3 weeks ago that it was due in 3 weeks so it should be now. NTL / UPC have never met a self imposed deadline and I don't expect this to be any different.

I never knew they were intending to introduce that - obviously gotten too used to the limited service. Mind you, the Series Link has been imminent for serveral months now...

As RTE Player is finally launched, perhaps they may now work with UPC to offer this service. I see in the UK, Virgin are trialling adverts on the 4OD service.

UPC never advertised interactivity so why would you or anybody else assume they provide it. Freesat will have it because the BBC are one of the groups behind it.

Did you get an email from them paulm17781? I'd be surprised if it jumps ahead of Series Link or even a proper dual recording.

I called them about dual record and this is what I was told. TBH I was surprised.

I would be surprised if interactive was to arrive this week - It would however make me think twice about switching to Sky.

Interactive has become essential especially when it comes to sports coverage on BBC and I always wondered why UPC did not provide it,

However given the long (wish) list of outstanding items - serial link, Channel name issue on the DVR,lack of channels, lack of stereo,HD etc etc I have my doubts interactive will arrive........reminds me of their sales person who promised channels they did not even carry....

They've been promising interactive services for the past 4 years. They were due to be brought in in 2006, nothing. Then again in 2007. 2007 came and went. Then 2008. And here we are now in 2009.

In other words, don't hold your breath!

You were told this three weeks ago, you post almost every day and you're only mentioning it now? Are you sure this isn't just another reason to gripe about UPC (cause there are plenty of real ones)....

Dude, I'm not sure what you're problem with me is. Chill. :)

I was told this, around the time you last said I whinge non-stop, about them. I was surprised and hoped to see it and then say it to people. The reason I said nothing was I was shocked and hoped to see it without people knowing. It seems unlikely now.

Yes, I have plenty of real grips with UPC. All are valid and based on facts / experience. I'm sorry if that annoys you.

Then why bother making a big deal about 1%? No, nothing I know of, I'm not even going to contact them about interactive because, well, I don't care. I only posted it because someone had posted about it, if the post had been "UPC launched interactive" I would have posted saying "I'd heard this might happen and I'm surprised it did, well done UPC."

I think your take on Interactive and UPC's version of it might be slightly different.

You mean the red button interactive, while UPC talk about the red haze (when you kick the DVR) interactive.

Well even the most basic of FTA satellite boxes will tune the BBCi feeds. In the mean time there is info and links on how stream the snooker from the internet in this thread - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055540198 :)
