    Hello cycling forum,

This is my first post here and I am looking for a recommendation. I used to do a lot of cycling before but due to work, life and my bike being stolen I have not cycled for a few years now and I am looking to back into it.
    • I am looking for a cross country bike probably a hard tail with front suspension. (but open to suggestions)
    • My max budget is about €500.

I would also appreciate if ye could recommend somewhere to buy the bike. I am based in Limerick but don't mind traveling a bit to get one.

    Thanks,
    h3000

    Hi,
    You could ask here.
    http://www.csn.ul.ie/~mtbclub/phpBB2/index.php

Someone might be selling something secondhand.
Alternatively id highly recommend going into "The Bike Shop" on OConnell street, Joe in there is a Gent and he will sort you out.(061 315 900...i think!)
    Marty.

Bought this off Joe for €500 http://www.trekbikes.com/au/en/bikes/mountain_hardtail/4_series/4300disc/

Would highly recommend it - and it gets good reveiws elsewhere - also Joe does the Bike to Work scheme if you can get it!

    Thanks guys,

I have actually dealt with Joe in The Bike Shop years ago and found him great so it sounds like he still is. I used to have a Trek before too (the one that was stolen) and loved that bike. I will call into him when I have the money together.
I will check out the cycling club in UL as well to see if they have anything nice for sale.

Have a look at chainreactioncycles.com as well for BeOne bikes. Wiggle.co.uk for Focus bikes and merlincycles.co.uk for their own brand merlin bikes. All are pretty good value.

mbcc.ie is close enough I suppose and you might find something secondhand there too

Mc Conveys in NI are doing good deals a the moment, check the link below, this giant bike is good value at moment, would cost you over 700 down South.
