Dual display question

I normally post over in the HTPC (Home Theatre Personal Computer) forum - my first time in here.

I need to have a PC with a dual display. However, the 2nd display will be located in another room and it must be able to display content that's unrelated to what's on the first display.

I've been thinking about dual gfx, with a long VGA cable or VGA over ethernet connecting the PC to the remote monitor.
However I don't really like that solution because when I've used dual GFX before, some applications can pop-up message boxes in the 2nd display. Also, the mosue can "get lost" in the 2nd display also. When the 2nd display is in another room, this is not really an option. SO I need another way of achieving this.

All I want to be able to display in the other room is a single application in full screen mode. I don't want the mouse/keyboard to have to interact with it ever. Any suggestions?
    Thanks
