Old head are taking green fees for 60 yoyos a head - the catch - you must have a group of 16 at least. Still a great deal I recon...

Times must be bad when courses like that are accepting snots(eew!) and yoyos as green fee payments. ;)

probably the nicest course i've ever played, unbelievable spot.

Fabulous scenery on this course and a couple of brethtaking holes. ...Not a very difficult course though and can play short...Deffo worth €60

Great course to play but find it hard to believe that they are only charging €60 a head (given that 16 must play). Their rack rate is €295 and I know that tour operators only get a small discount.

Where there any conditions on this like twilight/off-season?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16 Fiendybob

There's no conditions - I'm not positive but I've been told that this offer can be used at weekends also. We're heading out on a weekday so not sure how true this is...

If the course is as good as the scenery it's some bargain well done op

OP is correct. I heard about it about a fortnight ago and I'm almost certain it can be availed of any day of the week. Definately getting a group together and taking them up on it.

Wow, the offer they had in one of the golf mags this month looks expensive now. They had an offer of two green fees at Fota and one at the old head for €350.00.

I agree. Played it last year for 295euro which is very steep but i told myself it was a one off but i'd defo go down there and play it again for 60euro. For anyone that hasnt played it, be warned that the course is virtually unplayable when the wind is up. The wind is so strong there at times it's unbelievable. The problem is that its very exposed and very high off the sea. If you could get it on a good day then there isnt a course in the country that can touch it. Very very good value if there is truth in it being 60euro. I dont think any society would have a problem getting 16 lads together for that one.

Yes that rate is correct. I just booked a group of 20 for May. Great value compared to the rates of 12 months ago. This offer has generated huge interest See attachedinfo.
"We have a rate of €60p.p. for society golf. This is for a minimum of 16 golfers and is currently valid for April, May & OctoberonlyWeekends tend to be very busy and are very heavily booked, we have much more flexibility on weekdays. If you have days of the week or particular dates that suit your group best I can check the availability for you[To make and confirm a time we will require the following1. Players names, handicaps and home clubs 2. Caddy/Cart requirements, if any3. 50% deposit of green fees by credit card/bank transfer or cheque, at time of booking

I played it recently, most stunning course I have ever played, it is in financial trouble though hence the cheap fees...

been rooting away at the old honker since monday when i saw the post first
have me 60 snots stored in a jar

only need 15 others on the same wavelength !!

Wow ... how the mighty have fallen.....would rather support a local club in these tough times than these once "super-rich" clubs which need the local irish golfer in these harsh times..... Coz in the "good times" they didnt want the Irish (unless you wanted to fork out €1400 for a line (700 for a 2ball, 350 for a 4ball or the full 1400 if you wanted to play on your own!!!)) .... now times are "tough" they want the locals
(coz the gang planks aint here) .... when things pick up i bet they will jack up the price and tell us to go feck-off back to our local courses .... but guess what the local courses wont be there coz we're all playing these "fancy" courses at knock down prices .... come on lads lets support the local courses cause WE WILL need them when things pick up ;)

hard to knock what your saying golfcaddy but great oppertunity to play what looks like an unreal track. 1400 for a fourball is almost criminal!!!

The old head used to be a grand per 4 ball.

Played it at the weekend and it is a great course with some amazing views.

The website doesn't give the views enough credit.

There are not bailout areas on the par 3's

12th is a hole I liked where you play along the edge from tee to green (par 5)

Took us 5 hours to get round (4 ball) got held up around the 10th due to the group ahead going for their food on between 9 and 10.

Only downside is the distance markers or lack of them. We agreed that it is down to them really wanting you to use the caddies instead of pushing, carrying, pulling your clubs.

The locals don't like the place.

My father in law paid €250 two years ago (in a fourball)........so he wasn't happy when I told him I was getting it for €60 !! (with our society).
/...praying for the weather now, pls pls pls !!

Played last Monday for the twilight rate. WOW. Some spectacular view's. The wind made the course almost unplayable, but then again it is out into the sea. Putting was hard on exposed greens and even teeing up the ball was difficult enough.

All par 3's need accurate shots, no run off area what so ever. Some blind shot's also and looking for ball's meant that our round was almost 5 hours long.
