    8 dead after Mexico attack

Gunmen ambushed a prisoner transfer convoy in western Mexico at the weekend killing eight officers in a failed attempt to free a high-level cartel member.
At least 20 assailants launched a running gun battle against a column of vehicles escorting nine prisoners as it raced between an airport and penitentiary in the Pacific coast state of Nayarit.

Looks like the mexicans are fcuked!.Branded a failed state and compared to pakistan, by their neighbours the yanks.6000 drug killings in 2008 alone, policemens heads been found in iceboxes at the roadside.Obama to spend 700 million dollars on the border.Corruption seems to be the norm in the mexican police and public life.Although you have to admire the few that fight back, even though they usually end up dead.
The way it's going it looks like the drugs cartel's could win!!!!.
Its a toss up as to whos going to win.The government?or the cartel?.
    Who would you vote for?.

Drug-related violence in Mexico is escalating at an alarming rate and threatening the government of President Felipe Calderon.
CIA and U.S. military planners now fear a worst-case scenario — that the country could implode.

Mexico is now in the midst of a vicious drug war. Police officers are being bribed and, especially near the United States border, gunned down. Kidnappings and extortion are common place. And, most alarming of all, a new Pentagon study concludes that Mexico is at risk of becoming a failed state. Defense planners liken the situation to that of Pakistan, where wholesale collapse of civil government is possible

The only way to end this is to legalize cannabis.

It gets worse, the president called in a hard ass military general to try and tackle the gangs and within a few days he was killed. The military have taken over several areas because the police are wholly corrupt.

Hard to know really, but the sacking of Sven Goran Eriksson can only be a good thing.

The US needs to crack out the consaws and just cut everything south of the border adrift.

Too bad the US military has its hands full with Iraq, Afghanistan and maybe eventually Pakistan. When they're done, they should deploy into Mexico (or call it invade), like they did in 1989 with Panama, cleanse it the hard way, give it the same political status as they gave to Puerto Rico, then 60 years later consider making a few American states out of it.

By the way I think anyone in the story is in for losses, but I think that the cartels will have to get squashed one way or another, even if it involves a foreign invasion. Any victory of cartels (i.e. destroying the Mexican government) would only be temporary in that, shall the situation get awful and way out of hand, the USA, who were already in the past years over reacting to the problem of illegal Mexican immigrants to the point of building border fences, would see it as a an immediate and extremely real threat to their national security and go bat**** on Mexico.

    Cartel will win, big time.
