    Hi,

I have been saving a few web pages on my pc at work as part of research. I saved them on my desktop(pc) and then saved them to my usb dr and brought it home and plugged it into my macbook and dragged the file over to the desktop. However i cannot open these files on the mac now. I understand thy are two completely dif operating systems but would like to know if there is anything i can do to open them before i have to go back and gather all the research all over again!!
The notice i get is that "file" is not a valid Web archive or that Word does recognise the file as it is not a word doc whatever that means??

    Anyone?

What format is it? Is that mhtml or whatever makey-uppy format IE can save a page as?

On the PC, do File --> Save As --> give it a decent name and make sure the box underneath has the 'webpage, complete' (not 'web archive, single file') option selected before clicking OK.

Safari or any other web browser can open a standard HTML document like this.

If you were using word 2007 to make the web page that could be the issue, it seems to make a webpage that only works (as far as I've seen anyway) with ie7+. Word 08 wont open it, either will safari. You'll have to keep working with it on a pc instead.

Also you'll have trouble connecting webpages as for some reason it includes the drive letter with the address.

if that's not the issue I'm out of ideas...
