For f#cks sake! Why are posters on this site allowed to advise people how to get benefits they are not entitled to?

Why is this illegal advise tolerated by boards.ie?

    :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Mods show your face and explain please!

    Why are you so angry?

Help Desk i imagine is the place for this. Link to the posts in question, and perhaps a little less anger. Mods cant be on 24hrs a day. This part of Boards has probably gotten busier these days. Maybe another mod might be a good idea.

Another question, did you report the posts?

    !

Illegal advise would be a very bad idea.

Telling people what payments they can claim isn't legal (or illegal) advise.

There are repeated posts here where OPs are annoyed that their live in partners income is taken into consideration when UA is applied. A good example is http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055502092

A number of posters advised her to falsely state that her partner has dumped her to get UA. This is advise that will get the OP landed in court as it is fraud.

This is not the 1st time that this advise is given, it is also not the 1st time that I asked mods why this is tolerated. I have never been answered and am now wondering if there are any mods on this section at all. I don't see any mod guidance here.

I will report the tolerance of illegal advise but I don't think that it is fair to report the individual posters as this practice has been going on for as long as I can remember.

when you report a post, it doesn't necessarily report the individual poster.

It brings the moderator's attention to the post, and often they will look at the whole thread so as to get context.

Sometimes, if there are a lot of nonsense posts in a thread, I report the orginal post and let the mod know (in the comments) that they might want to take a look at the thread although the original post isn't a problem. Or whatever.

Mods aren't online 24/7, and they often don't have time to read every thread. But by reporting a post, it makes sure they take a look. So before you complain about shoddy moderating, make sure you've reported the posts you think are problematic. This is a community effort.

I hear you and accept what you are saying. I guess I am asking where the mods are here (yes I know they dont live in a darkened room chained to a PC and living on pizza) However in the many many times that I asked this question I has never been addressed. I also dont recall any input from a mod on this section.
(I want to be wrong on that one but I just have not seen imput)

In my heart of hearts I am wondering if there is any moderating in this section and so posted the thread I guess.

The system is stupid, if she was to move in to her own place she would get rent allowance and full jb.

    So bloody what?
Its called being in a relationship! You are supposed to support each other in times of need! The same limits are put on married couples, do you advise families to separate so the mother can avail of OPFA!

The point though is that it doesnt matter what you think is fair, there is a system that gives out money under certain conditions. If a person decides that they should get what they dont qualify for and lies to get it then it is fraud. If that advise comes from this site then the site is responsible in part.

Then pm a mod or take it to feedback.

Obviously no-one should recommend fraud. This goes without saying. It is probably that because the forum has gotten so busy recently that a few comments slipped through the net.

I'll keep a closer eye on this forum from now on. Although i don't specifically mod here, i'm the category moderator.

Please report any inappropriate comments or advice given in threads as this is the easiest way to deal with them.

I would also like to add that as members of Boards, you, the users of this forum, can always be nice and help a mod out by reporting a post that clearly is illegal or against the forum charter.
Mods do not read every single comment in their Forums. Most have lives out side this site and will act on reported posts when they are received.
    Thanks
    Beruthiel.
