Grow bags water logged - whats good to put under them for drainage (wet soil))

Ive a feeling that the grow bags are so wet as the soil underneath is wet as well.

I want to avoid stones as a drainage sandwich filling between the bag and soil as these will end up in the soil and be spat out by the lawn mower years later (I have them arounf the edge of garden)

Perhaps some cut thick stick would do the trick?

have you put some holes in the side of the grow bags for drainage?
or is it that you have holes in the bottom?

I second the "no, or badly positioned, drainage holes", theory.
Unless the growbags are actually sitting in puddles, they are unlikely to draw up enough water through drainage holes to waterlog them, so I'd say it's more a case of water not draining away.
You'll need a level surface so maybe an old floorboard, cut to size, sitting on a couple of housebricks.
