I'm interersted in doing some volunteer work in Brazil, particularly in the favelas. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience working in any of them? I'd like to work in Cidade de Deus but I am a bit wary of the violence there. Would a foreigner be in any danger working in any of these areas?
