Daily Mail Hypocrisy

I have to confess, I've always disliked the Daily Mail and its brand of journalism. It's favourite headline would be something along the lines of "Immigrants cause house prices to fall", but this goes to prove what a hypocritic rag it is.

It's to do with the cervical cancer jab which has funding in the UK but not in Ireland.

In the UK it is reporting serious health concerns with the treatment

"Alert over jabs for girls as two die following cervical cancer jab"

"Twelve year-old paralysed after being given cervical cancer jab"

"How safe is the cervical cancer jab? Five teenagers reveal their alarming stories"
    etc

Wheras the Irish Daily Mail has taken a completely different stance over the same issue.

"Join the Irish Daily Mail's cervical cancer vaccination campaign today"

"Europe will shame FF into providing Ireland life saving cervical cancer jabs"

"Cervical cancer vaccine for Ireland's girls: online poll slams decision to pull funding"

Daily Mail - never let's the truth get in the way of frightening and angering the general public imho

(btw thanks to the Guardian, a proper newspaper, for highlighting this poor excuse for journalism

Daily Mail... ...The Sun... ...The Daily Star... ...They're all the same pieces of bull****. What's worrying is that these are the only newspapers that some people read. Imagine getting a feed of that **** into you each day? It paints a false view of the world, and the newspaper basically has a controlling influence over these people (to some extent).

They have too much freedom, I believe. There should be laws against newspapers writing articles with no proof behind them.

LOL... try enforcing that one while still living in a democratic country.

    Yeh, that's the problem, isn't it? :p

People like this sense of 'freedom' and will protect it at all costs. well, my opinion is that the mass population are ignorant and short-sighted about many issues.

In 1998 two british nurses were convicted of killing a female colleague in Saudi. The Daily Mail ran a vigorous and self-righteous campagin protesting the womens innocence.

They were given a pardon and flew back to the UK. But they both sell their story to the Daily Express. Banner headline on the next edition of the Mail - CONVICTED KILLERS RETURN TO BRITAIN.

I think to a degree that with the Sun, The Star and the Mirror people kind of know what they are getting. These are not serious papers and in the main their readers realise this. They don't want serious news articles but to be entertained. The Mail, though, parades itself as a genuine newspaper when in my eyes it quite palpably isn't. It is just the lowest of the low.

OP I wouldn't worry the Irish Daily Mail will likely start attacking it once its been rolled out in Ireland...then they can just reuse the UK headlines :D

Basically Kelvin MacKensie, editor of The Sun, making up sensationalist lies to sell newspapers - all under the headline of "The Truth"

I have just been reading "Flat Earth News" by Nick Davies and "Bad Science" by Ben Goldacre and have to say they have been real eye-openers about these types of headlines, fantastic books.

In all the papers Davies looks at the Mail is by far the out and out nastiest one out there, some of the stuff they get up to is absolutely unbelievable....and journalists complain that more people are getting their information from the internet!!!

Or, how about telling the idiots who believe everything they read to grow a brain and not be so heavily influenced by tabloid gutter journalism?

You couldn't give the Sun away in Liverpool (my home town), it actually makes me quite proud!

However, back on topic. My mother used to buy the Mail every day, purely to get wound up by it. She said it kept her feeling young. So maybe these tabloid rags do have their positive sides.

Can you get the UK daily Mail in Ireland? Just wondering after all the Stephen Gateley fuss because that article was'nt in the Irish version!

Didnt say people should, but a read of that article which they allow to be published should make up most peoples minds, its a sick read by a proven liar

What I love even more is when you try to comment on the websites of these tabloids to point out like a blatant error the mods won't point out your question. Like the sun did a thing on shabby from BB and said she did a nude shoot in 'lesbian fetish magazine diva', but diva is a lifestyle magazine, its cleaner than Cosmo. I mean I know it was irrelevant but like the whole thing was just a big lie. :P

 I'm confused here the English mirror and the Irish one are basically the same(****e) same with the Sun/star/herald but i have read the Irish Daily Mail on occasion and i find some of their journalism ok for a what it is way more detail than the redtops and less bull**** than the Indo. Anyone with a brain should know that every paper are about 80% entertainment/fiction/white lies and 20% truth. On this site people really take the piss out of the Daily Mail is it only the English one that is being refered too?
