I'm sure this question has been asked over and over, but i wasn't able to find a thread on this topic within a recent timeframe so apologies, here it is again!

Which insurance company would you reccommend for a 1st time driver getting named driver cover?

My brother just turned 18 and is looking at €2000 for comprehensive named driver insurance (on mummy's policy) on an 04 1.2 Clio with Hibernian. Would this be about right? I would have thought for named driver it would be almost half that, but maybe not??

    Cheers.

Many companys will not insure someone who is 18. However, this should not stop him ringing them all anyway!
2K for named insurance is high but probably normal! Should your brother pass the test then this will drop!

    1. You'll actually be surprised how much lower it will be by ringing or going to the office rather than doing an online quote.
    2. The difference between 1l and 1.2l can make a difference for an unexperienced 18 year old (even WITH a full licence.)
    3. If your mother is already with Hibernian, there's probably a reason, and in any case, they'll probably be cheaper than Quinn anyway.
    4. Your brother may be eligible for Hibernian Ignition, though it generally applies to people getting their own policy. check it out.
