Hey, hoping someone can help me with an infuriating problem - Im 32, male, with a very good diet who exercises pretty much everyday. For the last two years I have been getting big red spots on the cheeks either side of my nose - I have blackheads all along my nose and this area and I'm presuming these are the source of the problem - No matter what facial scrub I use or how much water I drink it this area constantly looks red - The spots tend to last about a week to ten days and then they die down, only to resurface a few weeks later - I have never had acne or bad skin and the rest of my face has no blemishes whats so ever - Its getting to the stage were I am terribly conscious of these ugly red sores and its getting me down - I dont pick or squeeze them and I never touch my face with dirty hands - I don't think its bad enough to warrant going to a dermatologist, but any help/advice or tips youi can give me would be greatly appreciated!

Try the 3-step anti-blemish range by Clinique : Cleanser,Toner and Moisturiser. They did wonders for me. :)

Microdermabrasion might be a good way to go too. I've never done it myself but I'm considering it before the summer. My mates have said it's very good for clearing up the skin.

    This is good too

hi there, actually sounds like u just didnt do a proper cleansing on ur T zone, too much oil has blocked the pores. the first thing u need to do is to figure out what type skin u r and find out the correct cleansing product. myself is combination skin, dry on the cheeks and oil on the t-zone, i used to have blackheads on my nose as well, and they were really anoying when they r get visible and bigger, then i started to use biotherm Homme Hydra -Deto2x cleanser everynight and Clinique Liquid Face Wash Regular Strength one every morning, after while u will see the difference, the blackheads are gone, do this two steps everyday will keep ur skin much clean and fresh! and dont forget to use the toner as leprachaun said....it will help to improve ur skin condition.

    hope this will help

Hey and thank you for the replys - The area where the blackheads are tends to be very dry - As im a male, I wouldnt be great on what type of moisturisers I should be using! - At the moment I use Neutrogena blackhead eliminating scrub daily and 'Simple' light moisturiser afterwards - I choose this because it has no perfumes or colours in it which I thought we be good for my skin - The scrub hasnt helped clearing the blackheads so Im presuming its not doing me much good - Also the spots always come on my face to the side of the nose, never on the nose itself for some reason - As we speak I have two big ugly red sores that has me really depressed! I will try the stuff you mentioned and see how it goes!

I'd disagree. He's saying on the bits beside his nose, which I'd consider the cheek area and outside the t zone. He was also complaining of dryness, not over oiliness which again points to not being in the t-zone.

From what he's said he seems to have similar skin to you(combination) and the advice you gave should be perfect. :)

When using a moisturiser,I'd advise using oil free ones. I'd recommend cliniques anti-blemish one again simply because it disolves into the skin very quickley. When I used simples light moisturiser it kinda of 'sat' on my skin and wouldn't sink it. It didn't really help with the dead skin or as I like to call it 'face dandruff'. Don't use too much moisturiser either,it might make your skin overly oily and cause further breakouts.

You seem to be the exact same as me 'slave screams': male, dry skin on either side of my nouse and cheeks but generally fine everywhere else, tried simple light moisturiser etc... I'd try the clinique range I told you about above but don't use too much of the toner at first,it can be kind of harsh on our kind of skin. Even though you're supposed to do the 3-step twice and day I usually just do it before going to bed and only cleanse/moisturise after a shave in the mornings.

No harm in going to a dermatologist by the way, they'll give you the best advice no matter the severity of the problem.

Thanks Leprachaun, yes the main problem isnt the T zone, more the cheek area to the sides of my nose - I'm presuming the blackheads there are clogging/blocking and causing the red sores to appear - The strange thing I found is that they don't turn into typical 'spots' with yellow heads, just red sores - My skin is definately dry, I don't have oily skin at all - I will try that clineque range as you suggested - Thanks again !
