Horticultural fleece for protecting seeds

I sowed some seeds directly yesterday and was concerned about frost last night so I covered the raised beds with individual pieces of fleece held in place with pegs.

Can the fleece be left on during the day (to save laboriously removing it each morning) as light does seem to penetrate it. Also, can it be watered over?

a lot may depend on what you have sown...some plants are more tolerant of cold than others and consequently others must be propagated indoors and only planted out when the threat of frost has eased...fleece can be left in place as it is water and light permeable, but in windy conditions it can lead to chaffing and damage the plants, it also makes it much harder to see the progress of the plants...i cover the plants when there is a threat and uncover immediately after.
