avi to jpeg

    Sorry if this is in the wrong section, feel free to move if so.

    I'm looking for a recommendation for a free downloadable converter to convert avi to jpeg, Ok i know i can google this but i'm not sure which one is good and I'm looking for something simple to use as i'm not aufait as how to do this

    You know Jpeg is an image format right? Do you just want to take a still image from a video?
    You know, when you take a digital photo its a jpeg, the image of your avatar is a jpeg etc etc....

    yes this is what i want to do, and on an progamme i use here on my pc to open the video, it wont allow me copy a still

    Media Player Classic allows you to take screenshots from videos, should do what you want.

    VLC player will also let you save what it calls a 'snapshot'.

    If you're using Windows Media Player to view the video and it's version 9 or later, you can press Ctrl+I and it'll let you save an image of what's on the screen.

    What program are you using to watch the video?
