    HI,
I'm thinking of getting a new laptop, currently have a macbook... Can't decide whether or not to go for a new macbook, or XPS M1330.

I move around a lot with my laptop, tend to use it usually for surfing, typing and occasionally graphic/web design.

So i need a fairly fast machine, portable - 13.3" preferably.

Saw the Studio13 which looks nice too, but just not sure.

Anyone got experience with any of the above with some tips on which of the three to go for?

My sister has both, Ie 13" Intel Core Duo Macbook and XPSM1330 which she bought in the States. She had issues with both of them so far.

Heh, i would be afraid of that with dell tbh...cos they're not in any store so it's tough to just wander in and replace...

Also macs are expensive to replace parts!

XPS 1330 is old hat. You'd be better of getting an XPS 13 instead. New platform, and better built than the equivelant Macbook, with more power for your buck.

You can pick up the Dells for a much better price off the outlet. I wouldn't buy them from the main site.

If you've already got a Mac I surprised the Macbook isn't the automatic choice.

Any PC laptop will have Vista. Have you used Vista? Personally I took it off all my machines, I'm using Xp or Windows 7 instead.

Vista is a disgusting operating system. I have upgraded my PCs from Vista to XP. If Vista is so good why is are all sub notebooks still sticking to XP?

Don't even think about getting that Dell. I have both, but I only use my Macbook. Its probably been my best purchase so far. Everything is great on, especially the battery life.

Also, M1330's have little things wrong with them that will annoy you over time but the Macbook is perfect. buy it now

    Vista reeks for sure

a macbook and xps are completely different machines/. ?

I got a M1330 for my sis in law and its great, I use a XPS m1710 and swear by them

    [running windows xp anyway]

We have. M1330 and have no problems with it. Got windows 7 on it which is almost fast as Xp. Don't have a mac book but I think it's a nicer machine the aluminium one any way. The plastic ones cases break and chip.

Then I got the m1330 for 500 and the macbook is 1000

Well, tbh if i got a pc laptop, i'd put 7 on it asap - i have heard bad things about vista.

I've got the mac, but it's an expensive machine to run - a problem with my cd drive a few months back would have cost 400+ to repair, so i bought an external one for 50...

PC's are much more cheap and easy to repair, from what i can tell... Also cheaper to buy!

I don't really have any preferance of os - Leopard is nice, but at the end of the day they all do the same things for me.

I think an extended warranty is essential once you spent more then 600 on a laptop especially with anything apple.

If you like the Apple user experience, buy a Dell XPS, take 50% of the price of that in 50 Euro notes. Douse them in petrol. Light the bloody things and watch 'em burn. Then sit around with other people smugly congratulating themselves for doing the exact same thing and saying it's the greatest thing since Xerox invented the GUI.

:Di just come in to say Thanks:p

for me atm, kinda sick of the 'macbook is everywhere' trends going on now - which most people just bought a mac for its 'coolness'.Buy the one suits you.Are you familiar with Mac OS or Windows? Are you gonna simple home use or heavy graphic user(PS user etc)? That said, but if you have the money to spend then pick whatever you want:pac:
