Road relays and my camera

I'm going out to watch the road relays tomorrow in Raheny and I'm taking my camera. I know that it takes place where Raheny have their 1 mile races but does the relay just involve laps of this 1 mile route or does it just start here and finish further away. I'm just looking to pick my spot for the pics. Thanks

Yes, it's just laps of their one mile loop.

great stuff. Looking forward to the pics. Was meant to be running but the usual internal politics in our club means we aren't entering a team
It's a blessing in disguise for me personally but really bugs me

This was a fantasic day out and I hope my pictures do it justice. Raheny were clear winners of the mens senior, Tallaght took second. Raheny won the womens masters aswell with a sprint finish with Rathfarnham. Tallaght won the mens masters and the womens I think was dsd. Great way to spend the day

Raheny winners of the club relay mens senior

Tallaght AC winners of the club masters men

    DSD senior women winners

This in my opinion was the best race of all with Raheny chasing down Rathfarnham to take the masters women

A wee bit of controversy here. The Rathfarnham athlete slowed after crossing what she thought was the line (there was no finishing tape or other indication of where the race was supposed to end). It turned out to be the first of 3 lines (2 for handover area).
The Raheny athlete realised that the line was still not crossed first and managed
to get ahead in the 10 metre dash before the Rathfarnham woman could respond.

The organisers remembered the finishing tape for the remainder of the races. Not the best end to a great race.

The National Relays again proved to be a great days entertainment. Well supported by the Dublin clubs. Very exciting Womens Masters race as can be seen by Woddle's photo. Unfortunate way to win / lose a title. Good to see Tallaght winning both Mens Masters ( O/35 and O/50 ) titles and finishing 2nd in the Senior Men. Congrats to Raheny on winning the Senior Men in a new course record.
Woddle's excellent photos capture the great weather, crowd and competition.

Great pics Wod. I was there myself up until the 3rd leg of the Mens, pity I didn't see ya. Great win by Raheny. Thoroughly enjoyable and a very inspirational afternoon out

Fair play Woddle, you're a legend. Id say everybody there managed to get in a photo. Any body have a link to the results? Not on the AAI site as per usual!

The photos have now been filtered by clubs rather than the usual bib numbers. I've also added a Large Image option to make it easier to browse

    Raheny
    Clonliffe
    Tallaght
    DSD
    Rathfarnham WSAF
    Donore
    Liffey Valley
    Tullamore
    Sli Cualann
    Sportsworld
    Crusaders
    Finn Valley
    Letterkenny
    Ennis Track
    Lucan Harrierrs
    North Down
    DCH

Anyone any clue who these are

My guess is that the red lads are North Down.

Will Boards AC be appearing on this list next year? Woddle will be banned from taking part however. He'll be on photo duty!!

Boards AC will def be there next year, it was a great day out and I'm sure our O35 would have been mid table yesterday and for the senior men sure we just need to find 3 runners to keep Peckham company. :D

Was down with Raheny for a little training run last night and this girl and another chap were doing a 10 mile road loop. Asked if I wanted to come with them? "Ehhh, I'm good thanks!!!"
I might actually have died :D

Yeah the internet thing is driving her mad, I was suppose to follow her up to bed 10 mins ago, so I better get going :D

but she has given me the all clear for Navan and the 10k so yay and she seemed in good mood so I chanced my arm at the t&t in Santry the following Sunday and I got the nod for that too but I got to bring the kids

Has anyone got the route for the National 10k

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,450 ✭✭✭meathcountysec

Best I can do for route is...

    http://www.mapmyrun.com/route/ie/navan/508124039196453992

Its a 2 x 5K loop with finish on track at Claremont Stadium.

My goal is to get through lap 1 without being lapped

According to mapmyrun the route is pretty much flat. I would love to be racing this - damn you stupid marathon.
