Just wondering if anyone know what the actual legislation and wording of the charge is for violent disorder in a police station. I think it's section 15 of the dublin police act 1896 or something like that. Just want the actual correct titile for the legislation and the wording of the charge.

Its something like that act alright but the legislation is out dates and may only be used in DMR. The fine is something silly like £7

If it was while he wasnt in custody try Public Order Act...even if its in the private part of the station if the public have access to interview rooms etc then your onto a winner Used it once but that was in public office inside the front desk with public watching.

No public order won't work behind closed doors at the custody area. Was arrested for S8 POA and then on release decided to get confrontational with arresting member so was arrested by another member in the station grounds for S8 POA + S15 Dublin Police Act.

Outrageous situation all together just wouldn't go home!

Section 15 of the Dublin Police Act 1842 provides that every person who shall be found drunk in any street or public thoroughfare within the police district, and who while drunk shall be guilty of any riotous or indecent behaviour, and also every person who shall be guilty of any violent or indecent behavioiur in any police station house shall be guilty of an offence and liable to a fine not exceeding two pounds or imprisonment for not more than seven days. Section 28 of the Town Police Clauses Act 1847 and section 72 of the Towns Improvement (Ireland) Act 1854 make it an offence similarly punishable to be drunk in any street or guilty of any riotous or indecent behaviour in any street, police office, or petty sessions court or any police station-house.

Even thought it's a small fine it's still a charge to put to the accused.
