What do they do in Ireland?

I would have presumed it is still better than the other offer although I may be wrong since I know nothing about it.

They own quite a bit of our international fibre and they are a real telco not a pack of vulture capitalists .

Could have been worse, Three also tried to buy global crossing

I don't know whether it'd be a better offer in monetary terms. We'll have to wait for details.

But it's probably better to let a telco buy in, rather than a known corporate (pirate?) raider pillage what's left in the kitty. At least they have expertise with fibre. :pac:

Maybe joint ownership with the Govt? That hasn't been suggested yet. Govt could act as financier and provide a guarantee for the debt....

Ideally, we need a middle eastern or US firm to buy eircom.
