Leaking Fuel from 97 VW Polo

Petrol is dripping from fuel line in '97 VW Polo. The car is only being used once a week by my brother learning to drive. Anyone know/think this is a big problem or could it be something small and easy/cheap to fix? Any thoughts appreciated.

Probably just a split fuel line. I'd get it sorted out before driving it though...the fuel vapour is highly flammable.

Where is this fuel line? It may be as simple as replacing a section of rubber hose which is available at a reasonable price from most motor factors. Just be sure you use the correct securing clips and tighten them correctly without cutting into the new pipe.
