Requesting case files from a solicitor

    Would there usually be any trouble requesting a copy of the file from a solicitor who looked after a case for you in the past? Can you just request them?

    Yes, and there is a thread on this already.

    If it's your file/data then expect a minimal fee - if even.

    You can request them. I did such a request but the solicitor initally refused and I had to ask the Law Society to assist.
