Looking for info on unitarians I know they don't have a creed and judge all faiths as equal, they're liberal on most issues.
I would like to know more about services and what they involve, some of the faiths history and would it make a good alternative to someone who was tired of the conservatism and dogma of the catholic church.

Maybe if you post what dogma's and conservatisms you are tired of, some of the locals on here could see if there is anything they could help with. There are many denominations out there.

Unitarian Universalism although it has it's roots in Christianity, is no longer a Christian religion really. I'd say this has a better place in the Spirituality forum rather than here.

I've attended a few services. I would describe it as a collection of people who can't take things like Biblical literalism, Papal infallability, creationism or any really strict Christian dogma seriously but like a Church environment and have religious sympathy. They veer towards more spirituality but it's heavily Christian influenced.

I spoke to the Ministers there as we got married there. Their view is that because some major decisions on Christianity were made by men that it's probably if these decisions were made today, different outcomes would happen. Therefore it seems irrational to bound yourself and your thinking to decisions made by men a few thousands years ago. But their tradition is heavily Christian influenced. Sermon on the Mount is inscribed on the Church wall. All the nice parts of Christian teaching are also there.

They say love is the doctrine of their Church. In that God is love etc etc and that religions etc are just different ways of reaching God.

They are also one of the few religious organisations to sincerely respect atheists.

Yes, sort of humanists who spell ego G-O-D. Modern Sadducees, at odds with the Pharisees and with Christ. :D

Give me an honest atheist any day!
