Redundant & Struggling to fill days

    Hi there,
after becoming redundant 4 months ago one of the difficult things I find on a day-to-day basis is the lack of conversation/chat with other people. I miss the office banter!
I’m suggesting that we set up a kind of coffee morning (maybe once a week) for people to meet up and chat!
    Any thoughts??

Have you looked into doing some volunteer work? I'm sure there's a few charities around who wouldn't mind an extra pair of hands to help out.

since being made redundant 10 months ago i reckon i must have the cleanest house of anyone i know!!! :D

i do miss daily interaction with people though... have tried to do volunteer work locally but with so many people in the same boat there's a waiting list for a lot of places

You haven't given a location, but from the ID I'm guessing Galway?

Why don't you book a room in the Social Space, then advertise the date/time on the Galway city forum? You'd need to ask for a euro or two to cover the room-donation, but still it'd be cheaper than having coffee in a cafe.

(Or if you're in some other location, look for another similar venue there and do similar.)

Thanks for the suggestion for volunteer work but applied for a number of roles and they were taken.
im based in Dublin and feel theres a lack of things to do during the day- i am studying at home in the morning but do think a coffee group would help to discuss issues after redundancy.
I'm thinking of selecting a coffee shop in town at a certain time and anyone can drop by...

    Any takers?
