    Hey all,

Looking for some advice cause I don't want my hair to fall out!

My hair is naturally a medium to dark brown but it's quite highlighted (half head)

I want to go back brown (we'll I really want to go 100% blonde but it's just getting too expensive!) and since I can't really afford to go the the hairdressers I thinking of doing it myself

Can I just lash on a brown home dye or am I asking for trouble?!?

Any recommendation will be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks a mill
    O

Back away from the home dye:p!!! Yes your hair will be ruined if you go straight back to brown. A friend of mine did so and her hair had a lovely tint of green to it, no joke we all thought that was just a lie hairdressers told to get more money out of you!

Your best bet is to hit the salon and get it stripped back. Then depending on how blonde you are, they will choose a shade of brown for you. :)

I've had platinum blonde, medium blonde, brown, black, pink, purple, red and blue hair.

I worked in a salon for about a year and got my hair done there for free when i could be bothered but preferred doing it myself, i've dyed it at least 12 times myself at home and never had a problem just do it over time, working from a colour close to your own and gradually build up to the colour you want.

It's quite easy when your blonde to change to a darker colour, but i wouldn't advise black because it's a drastic change and you will look like Caspers long lost cousin.

i have been dyin my hair at home for years using a light golden brown shade so last week i decided to try dark brown for a change and i am now officially like an extra from the adams family. black black black! so maybe get it done in the hairdressers to be safe.

I went from blonde to brown few months ago and no problems with home dye. had disaster when my friend was doing my blonde roots (yellow yuck yuck) so put in brown myself and it didnt go green. love it brown now cause its in much better condition. if you can get a friend to put it in it would be easier. I always use loreal colour and maybe you should try light brown to start with.

I would defo recommend that you go to the hairdressers for the first time, after that just use home dye if you want a certain shade and you'll be set! It is tricky to find dyes that are dark brown without making your hair black too!

yeah, I did it recently. I was a honey blonde and the recession has hit my highlights :p

I got Garnier Nutrisse No 5 and got 2 bottles of it as my hair was quite long- turned out fine although it did wash out after a good bit after about 4 washes even though it was a permanent one. I got my hair cut recently and the hairdresser said it would take a few goes of dying it to get it properly.
I dyed my hair brown for years until I went blonde, no problems at all!

To be honest, if your real desire is to be really blonde, then I would make it my point to try stay blonde even though I know how expensive it is (being a highlighted blonde myself). I went from blonde to brown once before (gone it done in a hairdressers-not a home job) and a green hue appeared in my hair and it had to be stripped right back in very expensice studio to try rectify the problem. I hated being brown after being blonde all my life. That's just my opinion and personal experience though.
