No, you need to buy the TV out connector to view stuff on your TV... One of the reasons I don't like archos all that much is down to all the optional parts you might need to buy that coincidentally only they supply :P

    That is very definately true...

The argument is that Archos don't charge the customer who just wants to listen to mp3 format and watch movies in avi for the wifi uses and tv recording uses.

I'm one of those guys, i bought my archos 605 a year ago for 250 euro which at the time was an incredibly competitive price for that kind of player without wifi or touch screen or screen size.

I'm delighted with what i've got and had.
If i was charged an extra 90 odd euro at the start for the plug-ins i would have never gotten the Archos.

There are good and bad sides to the plug-ins...

Well, my point is more that you HAVE to buy the add ons from archos, they do not allow third party parts. So if your HDD breaks you have to pay an insane amount for what is really a cheap and easy fix because the HDD are software locked to the player

    hmm o.0

I have nearly the original Archos - the Archos 700, and i am able to put an AV cable (http://www.circor.co.za/Vosonic/Vosonic_files/Accessories/AV%20Cable.jpg) into my 3.5mm phono slot on the archos and connect it directly to the component connection on any tv and watch it.

can you seriosuly not connect any of the other ones using the AV cable ?
the cable came with the box.

Absolutely you cannot, your archos model is from when archos still kind of put the customer first...I remember that company...but that all began to change around when the AV500 was released (which is when when the 700 was released too)
