5 year old Dell Dimension 4600 on Windows XP Professional SP3

Will not connect to internet. When I plug the same ethernet cable into another pc, it does connect. So there's nothing wrong with the internet service.

I am getting the icon that digiweb is connected @ 100 Mbps down in the bottom rhs.

Please tell me how to troubleshoot and fix the Dimension

The interface is not getting a proper ip address assigned. Check that you have enabled DHCP for that interface of if you know your address range you could assign a private ip address.

Do the 'ipconfig' thing on the working comp and you'll see the difference.

    DHCP is enabled.

This just stopped working suddenly. No changes were made. Is there a button to set everything back to default settings?

try 'ipconfig /release' followed by 'ipconfig /renew' from the cmd prompt.
