American Proxy Servers

    Hello,

First of all I hope I am in the right forum. If this needs moving by all means. Thank you.

I want to be able to view an American television programme using a proxy server. But every time I have tried to use one, it does not work. I do not want one that I have to pay for or to download. I have tried ones that have said that are located in the US but they do not work either.

My question is this. Would you know of a server that does actually work?

And do proxy servers actually work at all?

    Thanks,
    Merlie :)

I'm not sure if this is about iptv or something else, but it's not really relevant to Servers&Systems, so moving it...

I've never found a proxy that works successfully and relaibly - I'm sure others have though.

I ended up buying a years VPN access with Witopia - US & UK gateways which allow me to watch and download US and UK TV etc BBCiplayer, demand five , itv player etc.
I got the ssl package so anonymity guaranteed with downloads. was well worth the 32 dollars (that was with a discount of 10%)

I know you don't want to pay but the hassle of getting free proxies to work is unbeliveably frustrating.

Have used Strongvpn.com in the past for this, worked perfectly fine.
Some of the online TV stations etc., also check your time zone settings so you might have to set your time zone to the US also, then just change the time itself to Dublin time, while still keeping the same US timezone (if that makes sense!).
